Rural General Assistance Project (Rural GAP) Results in $100+ Million More Benefits to Thousands and Systemic GA Program Reforms for Rural Communities

To improve access to General Assistance (GA) benefits for eligible people in rural areas, PILP launched the Rural General Assistance Project (Rural GAP) in 2012. Through partnerships with local advocates, Rural GAP enforces counties’ legal duty to provide GA funds, resulting in over $100 million more GA benefits to thousands of Californians in rural communities and systemic reforms to GA benefit programs in San Benito, Monterey, and Yuba counties.
